Sample Fenton Alley Cat Hand Painted Mouse w/ Cheese N9 Picture(s) and Description:

This is a hand painted and signed Fenton “Alley Cat”... Sample piece.... etched on the bottom.... "SAMPLE #4 2009 . This “fellow” is Satin Milk Glass... with “blushed” light tan highlights... and hand painted details. He’s setting there with that big smile on His face... a chubby little mouse dangle by its tail from His mouth... and a wedge of cheese. The cheese wedge looks like the mouse might just have dropped it!!!... Just a super Alley Cat!!!... This “fellow” sets 11 inches tall... about 4 ¼ by 5 ½ inches across the bottom... and appears to be in excellent condition. Near the bottom on the left side I see the Fenton mark embossed in the glass. This is the “Fenton - O - U.S.A.” mark that’s been used on pieces made after the year 2000. The original paper label is still intact also. It reads... “FENTON Quality Giftware U.S.A.”. On the inside of the base it is marked... “Limited Edition Rosso Exclusive by Fenton Art Glass made in the U.S.A.” On the underside.... SAMPLE #4 2009.... is scratched into the base. This was one of their sample pieces... and then there were then only 100 of these alley cats made. I am sure that this is an exceptional short runs for this glass maker... and will in time... become some of the rarest of Fenton pieces!!!... What a super piece of Art Glass!!!... In my never ending research... for information on glass items coming through the doors of this shop... it’s not at all unusual to come across pieces selling in the hundred... and even thousands of dollars. These are items that were probably made in small numbers years ago. Through attrition these numbers have diminished even more... making the remaining pieces even more rare... and quite valuable. I have no doubt that these low production Alley Cats will in the not to distant future be classified within this field of rarities. I’ve invested in quality glassware all of my life... (72 years)... and for every piece I’ve lost money on... there’s been 100's that have brought excellent returns on the investment. And at the same time... I’ve had the pleasure of owning the item. In today’s “shaky” market... where most every investor I know has lost most... if not all... of their hard earned money... I can think of no better investment than some of these glass treasures. Each time I come across a piece of this Fenton glassware... I have to stop... and admit to myself... that this old and forever dependable glassmaker... has produced some of the most exciting pieces of glassware... found anywhere on the “planet”!!!... Pricey???... Yea... I’ll admit to that... but it’s rare that you find a piece that isn’t fascinating in a multitude of ways. And this “crazy looking” Alley Cat... trust me... is no exception to that run of high quality and... “highly imaginative” styling. If you’re a collector of... Fenton Art Glass... or “Alley Cats”... you’ll not want to miss out on this extremely low production piece!!!...
